Why we need a global movement
Be under no illusion, on the current path, AI will not work for anyone, and that includes the industry. Not having a logical strategy for developing the most powerful technology in history is beyond staggering, and the irony that super intelligence is the product isn’t lost.
Why a Bridge of Wisdom works
Best of all, no one can question the solution. The Bridge of Wisdom creates a future that will work for all, AI that works for humanity, and puts humanity, rather than corporations or self-appointed dictators, in charge of our tomorrow. But we will need the combined talent, skills and passion of humanity to pull it off. To stop the unthinkable, we will need the extraordinary.
The extraordinary is good; stretching brings out the best in people. Taking on an industry that thinks it has already won is even better. And there is only one better feeling than campaigning for justice, and that’s when being surrounded by others who are as passionate as you are. It’s also apolitical, with parties from both sides blindly supporting technology without understanding the consequences.
In the UK, governed by the Labour Party, its roots tied to trade unions and supporting the workers, and in the US, Donald Trump is tied to the wealthy and, pandering to the calls of Silicon Valley, is more concerned about world dominance than the US economy, removing all restrictions with his AI Action legislation. And where are the Democrats? We have the most devastating attack on human rights in history, and no one is arguing the case.
The reason for the silence is that AI hype and propaganda have drowned out the truth. And we won’t change that by rapping on the window with a sponge. We need an all-out, hard-hitting 24/7 campaign that leaves no doubt in anyone’s mind what is happening.
A global movement will leave all those promoting AI with nowhere to go. A movement will unpick all the false arguments of abundance and the lies that AI will work for all. It will expose the politicians who haven’t joined the dots, and irresponsible AI CEOs developing a technology they know they cannot control, while also undermining humanity’s role in the future.
A global movement will pull together all the toe-curling ignorance. It will capture on video the hypocrisy and sound-bites that go with an industry whose primary focus is selling the dream to bring more investment in. An industry that talks up how AI can accelerate education, while destroying jobs, the motivation for study, and promoting AI will cure all disease, while simultaneously putting a line through Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
Our problem is that the industry has conditioned us. And while most of us discount the boiling frog metaphor as a myth, the message is critical. We’ve got so used to the AI companies doing what they want that we’ve stopped questioning them. Just like we’ve accepted that global wealth has tripled since the millennium, but real wages have gone backwards and 38 million live in poverty in America, the world’s richest country.
But ask yourself this. How easy would you surrender your Power of Attorney, meaning you are giving up the right to make financial decisions, earn a living or build wealth? Effectively, that’s what the industry has taken from us. Without any discussion or announcement, society no longer has a say on our future, and more worryingly, governments are doing nothing to protect us. We can vote in a new government, but on the current path, we will lose everything we value before the next election.
Intelligence tells us what is possible, but Wisdom tells us the things we should not do. Donald Trump’s AI Action Plan removes red tape and gives the industry a free license to do whatever it wants. Alarmingly, the only focus is on winning the race, it ignores the dire consequences. It’s time for everyone who understands what’s happening to come together in a movement to deliver a better way forward.
Once we have a voice, we will have a platform for the future. The Bridge of Wisdom gives us all a say in our tomorrow. Imagine the power of millions of humans working together, not as a protest but actively pursuing a vision that works for us all. Instead of billionaires, global giants and opportunists dictating what happens next, this is our opportunity to take back control.
